About Martin Žampach

Martin Žampach is a distinguished industrial designer from the Czech Republic, renowned for his innovative integration of traditional craftsmanship with advanced manufacturing technologies. His journey into design began with a deep-seated passion for glass art, cultivated during his formative years.

He honed his skills at the Secondary Art School in Luhačovice, Czech Republic, focusing on Glass Art. He furthered his education by studying Product and Furniture Design at Tomas Bata University in Zlín and the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. This diverse educational background laid a robust foundation for his multidisciplinary approach to design.

Martin's professional trajectory is marked by international experiences that have enriched his design perspective. He collaborated with an architecture studio in Londrina, Brazil, contributed to the esteemed CuldeSac design studio in Valencia, Spain, and worked with the prominent Art Lebedev Studio in Moscow, Russia. These global engagements have significantly influenced his design philosophy, allowing him to blend various cultural aesthetics with modern design principles.

His dedication to design excellence has been recognized through several prestigious awards. In 2013, his KON glass collection received the GOOD DESIGN AWARD from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design. He was honored again in 2021 with the same award for the PROTOTYPUM FACEMASK, reflecting his ability to adapt and innovate across different design challenges. In 2022, Martin's design for the JETSURF electric longboard earned the BigSEE Product Design Award, and his work on the Thermo Fisher Scientific electron microscope keyboard was recognized with the New York Product Design Award in the same year.

Martin's recent endeavors include the LOOPS series, which explores distinct forms and production processes of 3D printing to present a series of geometric coffee tables. The table bases are crafted by an industrial 3D printing robot, allowing for larger sizes and a broader palette of materials. Each base is paired with a tabletop made from 100% recycled plastic, showcasing his commitment to sustainable design practices.

In 2024, Martin's contributions to sustainable design were further acknowledged with a nomination for the EDIDA (Elle Deco International Design Awards) in the category of sustainable design. This nomination underscores his commitment to creating environmentally responsible designs that do not compromise on aesthetic or functional quality.

Through his continuous exploration of materials and technologies, Martin Žampach remains at the forefront of contemporary design, seamlessly blending art, functionality, and sustainability in his creations.
